Sawmill For Sale
One hay-wire sawmill,
Nice, new location,
Ten mile haul
To the shipping station.
Half mile of plank road,
Rest of it mud,
Six bridges, all condemned,
But otherwise good.
Timber, yellow cypress,
Very few knots,
Awfully sound
Between rotten spots.
Firebox boiler,
Flues leak some,
Injector patched
With chewin'gum.
Darn good whistle
And carriage track,
Nine feet left
of the old smokestack.
Belt's a little ragged,
Rats ate the laces,
Head saw is cracked
In a couple of places.
The engine knocks
And is loose in its base,
And the flywheel's broke
In just one place.
There's a pile of side lumber
And a few cull ties,
But they've been attached
By some creditor guys.
There's a mortgage on the land
That's now past due,
And I still owe
For the machinery, too.
But if you want to get rich
Here's the place to begin,
For it's a darn good layout
For the shape it's in.

Our Biannual Family Reunion
Our next reunion is scheduled to be held Thursday, June 20 through Saturday, June 22, 2002. It is tentatively to be held at the Dillard House Bed & Breakfast, Old Dillard Settlement (Mull), Arkansas. It is just two miles from the Buffalo River on Hwy. 14 south of Yellville, Arkansas and is built on the original site of James Franklin "Doc" Dillard's home.
This year, as in previous years, we will have fantastic food. A pie auction is set for Thursday evening after the traditional welcome dinner of fried biscuits, homemade jams, fried deer and squirrel. Last reunion, the pie auction raised quite a lot for the reunion fund- so bring your sweet tooth, a pie if you can, and your wallet. Be prepared to enjoy some great singing after the pie auction.
Friday evening we will have goodies and finger foods on hand and lots of terrific Dillard Family entertainment.
Saturday, everyone can look forward to a fantastic dinner including pork, turkey, fried catfish, homemade goodies and desserts beginning at noon. After the dinner we will have our auction again. We have had lots of interesting items included in years past and this year will be no exception. Remember, all funds raised go right into the reunion fund. (Be sure to check out our page on the Dillard Family Cookbook. We are having a sale on the cook books so be sure to check out that page. It includes recipes from many of those who contribute to this delicious meal!)
Every night will include enjoyable music concert put on by family members under a big tent. Blues, bluegrass, southern rock and gospel will be among the music played.
Be sure to check back with us. As it becomes available, we will post more information for the upcoming 2002 reunion with a list of events and times.
